Security
In the first instance, we have gone to a great deal of trouble to ensure that the procedure for verifying your identity and activating your account is done off-line so that there is no risk of anyone other than you gaining access to your information.
Then, from a systems point of view, there are two aspects to maintaining the security of any sensitive information we hold about you.
First, we must secure the data as it is stored by us. To this end we use industry-standard database and security technologies. Furthermore, some of the information you supply to us is held in encrypted form, such that we cannot even view it.
Then we must be sure that it is secured when we transmit data to and from you. Secure connections (often called SSL, or Secure Sockets Layer) is the industry standard in Web security. It is used primarily for transmitting sensitive information over the Internet. When you have a secure connection between your browser and a Web site, no one else can access the data that you send across the connection.
