Certification

ENZA are certified with:

New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF)

All product leaving New Zealand must have a phytosanitary certificate issued by the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry where required by the importing country. ENZA has gained MAF certification for packing, coolstores, export documentation and exporting of fruit which permits ENZA to export to 77 countries.

Euro Retailer Produce Working Group Good Agricultural Practice (EUREPGAP)

ENZA recognises the huge value that EUREPGAP offers both suppliers and customers. The protocol requires all growers be able to demonstrate their commitment to:

  • Maintaining consumer confidence in food quality and safety
  • Minimizing detrimental impact on the environment, whilst conserving nature and wildlife
  • Reducing the use of agrichemicals
  • Improving the efficiency of natural resource use
  • Ensuring a responsible attitude towards worker health and safety

British Retail Consortium (BRC)

British Retail Consortium has been developed to assist retailers in fulfilling their legal obligations and protecting the customer, by providing a common basis for the inspection of companies supplying retailer branded food products. An independent verification body, either AgriQuality or SGS, completes auditing.

The key requirements of BRC are:

  • The adoption of HACCP (Hazards Analysis and Critical Control Points)
  • A documented quality system
  • Control of factory environment standards, product, process and personnel

BIO-GRO NZ

BIO-GRO is New Zealand's premier trademark for organic products and all organic fruit exported by ENZA is BIO-GRO accredited. BIO-GRO is an independent, non-profit incorporated society, funded entirely by membership and inspection fees, licensing levies, donations and grants. It has no commercial affiliations. The BIO-GRO standards are at the heart of the value of the BIO-GRO logo and trademark, and are the formal basis and reference point for all questions concerning BIO-GRO certification.

BIO-GRO activities include:

  • The setting of organic production standards
  • Certification of Bio-Gro Licensees and License Applicants
  • Promotion of organics and support for organic research and education

Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI)

The initiative is based on core International Organisation Conventions that have been agreed and signed up by the vast majority of Governments. ETI has been a response to the concerns of ordinary people who want to see Ethical Trading turned into reality and is now reflected in New Zealand’s legislation.

The key requirements of ETI are:

  • Freedom of association
  • Working conditions
  • Wage level
  • Child labour safeguards
