Nelson-Tasman
ENZA’s strength and largest supply base can be found across the Tasman region which stretches from the fertile Waimea plains, through the hard clay soils of the Moutere hills, westward across coastal areas of Mapua, Tasman, Mariri, arriving in Motueka, and the garden of Riwaka.
Fruitgrowing is long practiced here; some orchards are now in the competent hands of 5th generation orcharding families. Nelson was the location of many of New Zealand’s first orchards planted in the late 1880’s. Today it boasts production in the World’s leading club variety Jazz™, and other infamous staples: Royal Gala, Braeburn, Fuji, Pink Lady, Cox’s Orange Pippin, and Taylor’s Gold.
Growers enjoy a temperate climate, cool winters and warm dry summers. Conditions found here produce some fantastic colour, texture and flavour in both apples and pears.
